  1. Love the blog-just read the whole thing lol. Where are you guys from? Wondering because with all the work you guys are doing, wanted to see what your drive was. We are in CT and would love to do something similar, still figuring out how far i want to drive and then the process of finding land. Figured 2 hours at this point is all i'll want for a getaway. How did you find your land? Cant wait to see more posts!

  2. We're from just outside Boston and the drive is about 2 hours 15 minutes. I found the land myself, both looking on craigslist and also local real estate companies (google Southern VT real estate). Check back often for more updates on our progress. Thanks very much for the support. Good luck with your search.

  3. Did you go through a real estate agent? I'm hoping to find something and get seller financing...anything to keep these costs down. Acreage seems all over the place. Cant seem to get a read on a "fair" price, unlike real estate down here.

  4. I contacted seller's agents myself, but only when we had serious interest in specific parcels. It is tough to gauge land prices though. Seems to be dependent on terrain, location, tests that have been done, water on site, clearing, view, etc. Not all will offer seller financing. My advice is find a piece of land you like and lowball an offer. Worst thing that can happen is they reject it; there's plenty of land out there. Just move on. I looked for over a year though and found the best parcels came on the market from late spring to early fall.
