Yeah, this is pretty legit. No other way to describe it. Since the last post, all the concrete has been poured, the hole has been backfilled, phone and electric have been piped to the site, and all the framing prior to the timber erection has been done.
Next step now is putting up the actual timber frame-the step we've been most anticipating. We're going up this weekend and I can't wait to see it in person and walk inside it, around it, and on it.
Chris and I plan to build a cabin on our 10 acre piece of land in Halifax, Vermont. This blog will follow our progress and trips to the land with pictures, stories, and anything else interesting that comes up.

Concrete for Days
Chris was able to get up to VT today and update me on the progress. Looks incredible and we are so pumped. He also was able to meet with Bruce (our timber frame guy) for the first time on our soil. Bruce was all about it and thought everything looked great. Looks like we're shooting for a June 1st timber rising. Before that, Sheldon will waterproof the concrete, Jesse will backfill the hole and add gravel to the base, then they'll pour the slab, then Sheldon will frame the walk-out and get things ready for the timber frame. Both Chris and I are scrambling with our schedules to see if we can be there when it goes up. You only get one chance at every step so we want to be there all the time.
